A news item today reports that Suffolk’s coastline is facing an uncertain future – and has some of the “fastest eroding beaches in Europe”, according to an expert. Karen Thomas, head of Coastal Partnership East, said: “Suffolk has some of Europe’s fastest eroding coastline along with Lincolnshire.” The Dutch company HaskoningDHV has been using sandscaping on the recent Bacton To Walcott Coastal Managagement Sscheme, which saw sand pumped from the sea back onto the beaches to increase their height and width.
